Service Mesh & Networking

Traffic, security and observability between services — without burying teams in YAML.

Once you have more than a handful of services, the hard problems move into the network between them: who can talk to whom, how traffic is routed, and why a request is slow. A service mesh like Istio or Linkerd solves these at the platform layer — mTLS for service-to-service security, traffic shaping and retries, and east-west observability — so application teams get it for free instead of reimplementing it. I adopt a mesh only where that value clearly outweighs its operational cost, and I keep the configuration off developers' desks so the capability doesn't arrive as a wall of YAML.
